Dental implant in the gumIf you’re dealing with tooth loss—whether one, several or even an entire arch—then replacement is very important. Don’t you want your smile to look attractive? Of course, you do! And you need good oral health. Today’s ideal choice for tooth replacement is a dental implant. Although dental implants cost a bit more upfront, their longevity and ease of maintenance could make the added expense worthwhile. Read on for a break down of the costs.

Cost of Dental Implant Posts

Figuring the cost of a dental implant restoration necessitates looking at two factors. First, there is the surgical insertion of the posts. The cost of the surgery combined with the price tag on quality implants runs between $1000 and $3000. Of course, there other factors that influence the cost of surgery and implants such as the size of the implant, where it needs to be placed and the type of anesthesia required.

Price of the Restoration

After the implant and surrounding bone tissue have fused, you’ll return to the dentist to have the appropriate restoration attached. This will cost between $500 and $3000 for a single tooth implant and up to $30,000 if you are replacing all of your teeth along one arch with an implant-retained denture.

Additional Costs

In addition to the basic charge for the implant and the surgical services necessary for placing the post in your jaw, there may also be preparatory procedures. For instance, some patients need a tooth extracted before an implant can be placed. Others need graft surgery to ensure that there is sufficient gum or bone tissue to support the implant. These all add to the cost.

Luckily, your dental insurance may partially cover the cost of some of these procedures. Dental work that is considered medically necessary by your insurance company may be covered, as well as sedation services. Talk to your insurance administrator at work, a representative with your provider, or ask at your dentist’s office to find out if you have coverage.

If you would like to know how much you’d have to pay for dental implants, call a dentist today to schedule a consultation.
